Determinantes de la Estructura de Capital en Empresas Familiares Ecuatorianas

Resumen

El presente estudio se llevó a cabo con la finalidad de identificar los determinantes de la estructura de capital de las empresas familiares en el Ecuador. A pesar que la literatura ha destacado la relevancia de este tema, sigue siendo una investigación inexplorada tanto a nivel local como regional. La primera fase del estudio consistió en analizar la base de datos proporcionada por la Superintendencia de Compañías Valores y Seguros y, por consiguiente, realizar un estudio descriptivo que determine la composición de la misma. A partir de esto se pudo determinar que el 75.68% de las empresas registradas en dicha base son de origen familiar, basada en la definición propuesta por  Leach (1990).


La segunda fase consistió en plantear 2 modelos econométricos en los cuales se aplicó la metodología de datos de panel, la misma que permitió establecer la significancia de los determinantes de estructura de capital durante los 6 períodos analizados. En conclusión, los resultados obtenidos de las regresiones indicaron que las variables significativas fueron rentabilidad, tamaño de empresa y tangibilidad.
